Cascata do Mito is a waterfall in the municipality of Ponta do Sol, on Madeira’s mountainous southwest side. It reflects the island’s volcanic geography, where water cuts through steep, dark rock and supports dense subtropical vegetation. The contrast between pale moving water, mossy surfaces, and the shadowed ravine gives the scene its visual character; close compositions emphasize texture, while wider views place the cascade within Madeira’s rugged, green interior. Water volume and the appearance of the surrounding foliage vary with recent rainfall.
