Casa Roura
📍 Spain
Casa Roura is a modernist-style building located in Canet de Mar, a town on the Mediterranean coast in the region of Catalonia, Spain. Designed by the famous Catalan architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, completed in 1906, the house is unique with its fantasy-like architecture, symbolising the owners’ connection to the past, with references to Romanesque, Gothic, Arab and Renaissance style. The gardens of the house feature several architectural elements such as columns, arcades, balustrades and abundance of curves. In the past, the Casa Roura hosted various gatherings of intellectuals and gathering of the Noucentisme generation, creating some of its most beautiful scientific, cultural and literary moments. Today, the building is a cultural centre, and open to the public. Visitors can tour the building, admire its elaborate gardens, and enjoy views of the Mediterranean coastline.
