Cape Disappointment Lighthouse is a beautiful, historical landmark located in the town of Ilwaco, Washington. Built in 1856, the structure is one of the few remaining brick lighthouses on the West Coast. The tower stands over 80 feet tall, and is nestled in the grounds of Cape Disappointment State Park. Visitors can explore around the foot of the lighthouse, as well as stroll for miles around the historic site, soaking in stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. For history buffs, the sheer size of the lighthouse brings a storybook feel to the scene. There are a couple of museum buildings and interpretive centers nearby, which provide interesting facts about the lighthouse and its role in US Naval history. As the sky melts into twilight, the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse serves as a picturesque backdrop for photographers.
