The Campanile is the bell tower of the Basilica of Saints Philip and James, rising beside Corso Italia in the historic center of Cortina d’Ampezzo. Built from pale local stone, its tall, narrow profile, clock faces and steep spire form the town’s clearest architectural landmark, contrasting with the broad mass of the surrounding Dolomites. From the pedestrian street, the tower can be framed above traditional façades and café life; from farther viewpoints, it provides a strong vertical reference within Cortina’s mountain-ringed skyline. Changing alpine light brings out the masonry’s warm tones, while winter snow sharpens the contrast between the spire, rooftops and rocky peaks.
