📍 Italy
The Campanile di San Martino Vescovo rises beside Burano’s parish church, near Piazza Baldassarre Galuppi in the Venetian Lagoon. The tall brick bell tower is one of the island’s defining landmarks, distinguished by a pronounced lean caused by ground subsidence. Its restrained masonry and arched belfry contrast with Burano’s low, brightly painted houses, while its height makes it visible across canals and open lagoon water. From the square and nearby canal edges, the tilt is especially clear when framed against vertical façades; from boats approaching Burano, the campanile anchors the island’s colorful skyline.
