The harbour city of Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and is famous for its rich maritime history. Located on the River Lagan and bordered by the Belfast Lough, Belfast houses the glamorous Titan’s Tower and ships often seen in the harbour. A variety of markets and shops line the Victorian streets, and the city centre is lined with pubs and clubs. The City Hall is an iconic centrepiece surrounded by the remains of old walls which managed to survive the bombings during WW2. The Botanic Gardens offer an array of tranquil settings for a breath of fresh air and St George’s Market is a brilliant way to experience the culture of the city. Further outside of city centre, mysterious caves lead to the breathtaking Carrickfergus Castle, built in 1177. The stunning Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, boasts an incredible selection of basalt columns known as the “Giant’s Causeway” due to the Folklore surrounding them. Belfast is a must-visit destination for any traveler.
