Calle de los Suspiros and Casco Viejo de Colonia del Sacramento in Colonia Del Sacramento, Uruguay, offer a unique view into the city's historic colonial architecture. It's the only surviving colonial city in Uruguay and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city center is filled with cobblestone streets and old buildings, the most popular being the cafes, restaurants, and small shops that line Calle de los Suspiros. You can explore the narrow, winding passageways and visit the churches, museums and other attractions. The old city walls, with the famous Cerro de los Suspiros, provide a stunning backdrop to the old city. Casco Viejo offers a range of activities too, including scenic boat rides and horse-riding. If you're lucky, you may even get to take part in one of its regular multicultural festivals.
