📍 From Alcázar Garden, United States
The California Tower stands as a beacon in San Diego's Balboa Park. The 192-foot tower, which is illuminated from the inside at night, was built for the 1915-16 Panama-California Exposition and is one of the city's most-recognized landmarks. The tower's elaborate Spanish-Renaissance facade is a visual masterpiece and its observation deck provides spectacular views of San Diego's cityscape. The interior of the tower is off-limits to the public but its basement features permanent exhibits that illustrate the tower's construction and Balboa Park's history. The California Tower is open daily and admission is free.
