📍 United Kingdom
Cabot Tower stands on Brandon Hill, a leafy park just west of Bristol’s city centre, near Park Street. Built in the late 19th century, it commemorates the 400th anniversary of John Cabot’s 1497 voyage from Bristol to North America, connecting this hilltop landmark with the city’s maritime history. The 32-metre tower combines red sandstone with pale Bath stone detailing, its Gothic-style arches and projecting balconies standing out against the surrounding trees. A narrow internal spiral staircase leads to viewing platforms overlooking Bristol’s hilly roofscape, church spires and Floating Harbour. From the park below, the wooded slopes provide a contrasting setting for the tower’s slender silhouette.
