The Cabildo de Humahuaca and Plaza Mariano Gómez are two of the most important historical sites of Humahuaca and all of Argentina. Hosting a variety of events and festivals throughout the year, the plaza is bustling with visitors and a great place to explore traditional customs and culture. The Cabildo de Humahuaca, a 16th century colonial-style building, is the historical center of Humahuaca, home to the Museo de Historia, where visitors can learn about the martyrs of Humahuaca, as well as artifacts from the region's pre-Columbian and colonial past. Be sure to visit the nearby torreón, a 17th century structure that provides excellent views of the plaza, the surrounding mountains, and the Humahuaca Gorge.
