Buttermilk Road
📍 United States
Buttermilk Road is a lesser-known scenic drive through the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains just outside of Bishop, California. Running along the western edge of the White-Inyo Range, the road winds up a series of hills and valleys with amazing views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks, including Mount Humphreys and White Mountain Peak. Buttermilk Road is unpaved and unsuitable for vehicles that are not four-wheel drive, however, cyclists and hikers will have no trouble traversing its length. The road itself is filled with expressive landscapes, complete with fields of wildflowers, Aspen groves, and views of the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains. Hikers might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of big game such as Bighorn Sheep, Mule Deer, or even a Golden Eagle. This is a great place for photographers and nature-lovers alike, who will appreciate the grandiose scenery of Buttermilk Road.
