Burj Khalifa rises 828 meters above Downtown Dubai, beside Dubai Mall and the artificial Burj Lake. Opened in 2010, it is the world’s tallest building and a defining landmark of the city’s rapid vertical growth. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the tower combines a three-winged plan with successive setbacks that narrow toward a slender spire; this changing profile also helps disrupt wind forces. Its glass and metal exterior shifts in appearance with the light, revealing silver, blue and warm reflected tones. Views from across Burj Lake give the immense structure a clear foreground and show how dramatically it overtops the surrounding skyline, while closer perspectives emphasize the layered wings and the contrast between its broad base and needle-like summit.
