The Old Buried Village is a spectacular archaeological site pack full of history and located in Al Madam, United Arab Emirates. It dates back to approximately 2,500 years ago. It is also known as Tell es-Sultan. It was once home to an ancient fishing and farming community that was destroyed due to a flood. The ancient irrigation systems on the site have been carefully preserved and visitors can take guided tours to learn more about the history. The site has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The most fascinating thing of this buried village is its ruins, which appear to have been naturally preserved in the sand for centuries. It is recommended to walk around the ruins to explore the different parts. Visitors can also appreciate the colors of the rainbow that appear in the ruins due to the presence of bedouin-style dyed fabrics from the nearby tents. On-site facilities include a cafe, museum and gift shop. The best way to reach the site is by car or by taking a taxi.
