
Burgruine Weibertreu is one of the best-preserved ruined castles in Germany. It is located in Weinsberg, in the Baden-Württemberg region. The castle has been restored multiple times, which is evident in its unique the mix of architecture styles. It is mainly Gothic and Romanesque, featuring interesting patterns on its walls and towers.
The most interesting part of the site is a hanging bridge, which connects the two parts of the castle and stands over a 50-meter deep trout-filled moat. From atop the ridge, visitors can get a great overview of the surroundings. One of the main attractions is the traditional Medieval Knight’s tournament which has been taking place in the castle grounds since 2002. Other activities include guided tours which discuss the history of the castle and its various governments, as well as excursions to the surrounding forests and vineyards.
