Burg Sooneck is a castle ruin in Niederheimbach, Germany. It is located high up in a wooded valley of the River Lahn and is considered to be one of the most romantic castle ruins in the region. The castle was first mentioned in 1150 and was initially occupied by a nobleman named Soo. The four walls that remain, constructed in the 12th century, are among the oldest and most well-preserved in the country and can be seen towering above the valley below. Visitors to Burg Sooneck can explore the ruins and admire the view across the Lahn valley, which includes the village of Niederheimbach and distant valleys and hills framed by the remains of the ancient castle walls.
