Burg, Gondorf, and Carls Höhe – or Gondorf Castle, Gondorf Hills, and Carls Höhe – is a stunningly beautiful and historic site. Located in the small town of Kobern-Gondorf in the Rhine Valley of Germany, the castle is the remnant of a former medieval stronghold. This castle was the seat of the powerful Earl of Gondorf from ancient times until it was taken from him by an enemy army in 1471. The castle’s central courtyard, or Burgplatz, is still a popular gathering place and has served host to numerous events, such as summer concerts and live theater performances. The entire complex is surrounded by magnificent walls with eight watchtowers, making it an amazing site to behold. Nearby stands the Church of St. Jakobus, built sometime around 1300 and now used as the local parish church. Visitors to the area can also explore Carls Höhe, a path that winds its way through the Gondorf hills and offers stunning views of the town and castle.
