Burg Eltz is a castle near Wierschem, Germany that was originally constructed in the 12th century and has been owned by Eltz family for 33 generations. It is perched atop a rock on the banks of the river Moselle and is surrounded by forests. The castle is made up of three distinct wings that are connected by an archway. The upper stories are connected by an exquisitely constructed bridge. The surrounding parkland has a picnic area, a beer garden, and a great play area for kids. Burg Eltz is accessible by car and also has a shuttle service for visitors. Inside the castle, there are eight furnished rooms, period armors and suits of arms, a hunting room, treasure chambers and numerous exhibitions. The castle also hosts seasonal events and concerts, and it is a popular tourist destination and filming location.
