📍 From Rue d'Antrain, France
The Building in Rennes is a remarkable piece of architecture. Built between 1879 and 1884, it was one of the first large buildings to be constructed in the new architectural style of art nouveau, a style that characterized buildings around the world at the turn of the century. The building features six façades, with each of the two lower upper building elements featuring different motifs than the other four. Most of the building's façades are covered with floral and geometric motifs, which contrast with the more subtle classicism of the lower elements. Inside, the Building in Rennes contains some of the finest examples of decorative art, and the striking 1898 stained glass window designed by Charles Laisné. The building is fully renovated and open to the public, and is definitely worth a visit.
