📍 From Schürweg, Switzerland
Bruder Klaus is a historic chapel located in the small municipality of Killwangen, Switzerland. It was built between 1994 and 2001 with toil of local farmers using recycled materials. The exterior is covered in haystacks, and its traditional appearance is distinct and impressive. Inside, the chapel is 4.8 m long and 5.7 m wide and features rough walls, raw windows and bright concrete floors. The chapel is dedicated to Brother Klaus of Flüe, a 15th-century mystic who was born and raised in nearby Sachseln and was well known for his love and devotion to the poor and sick. The chapel stands as an example of the love and appreciation for Brother Klaus and remains a place of pilgrimage for many worshippers. Bruder Klaus also serves as a venue for cultural events. Tourists can access the chapel both from its surrounding meadows as well as from the nearby city center.
