📍 Saudi Arabia
The Makkah Royal Clock Tower rises beside Masjid al-Haram, the Grand Mosque surrounding the Kaaba, at the heart of Makkah. Standing 601 metres tall, it is the highest tower in the Abraj Al Bait complex, a vast development that includes hotels and facilities serving pilgrims. Four enormous clock faces, Arabic inscriptions, and a crescent-topped spire give the building its unmistakable silhouette. Its scale creates a striking contrast with the mosque’s minarets and open courtyards below, placing contemporary high-rise architecture directly beside Islam’s most sacred site. After dark, the illuminated faces and green lighting become prominent features of the skyline. Entry to Makkah is restricted to Muslims.
