Bridges of London
📍 From Millennium Bridge, United Kingdom
The Bridges of London span over the River Thames, connecting Southwark and the City of London. Among them, the most renowned ones are Tower Bridge, London Bridge and Chelsea Bridge. Tower Bridge was built in 1894, having a Gothic Revival style, and it has two high walkways that link St Katherine’s Dock and Tower of London. Its two operable bascules weigh 1,000 tonnes each and need 60 seconds to open. London Bridge was the first bridge across the Thames, being a great historic landmark since ancient Roman times. It is a simple bridge that offers beautiful views of the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral. Chelsea Bridge is a steel truss bridge, with a central span of 70 metres. It is a very photogenic bridge, offering postcard-like views of the River Thames with the London Eye in the horizon.
