Most SNP (Most Slovenského národného povstania), commonly called the UFO Bridge, is Bratislava’s signature span across the Danube: an asymmetric, single-pylon, cable-stayed bridge whose tilted concrete tower supports a long steel girder deck. It links the historic Old Town with Petržalka and is important both as critical transport infrastructure and as a visual landmark that defines the city skyline.
Built in the late 1960s–early 1970s and named for the 1944 Slovak National Uprising, the bridge exemplifies Cold War-era engineering ambition in Czechoslovakia. Its most striking architectural feature is the saucer‑shaped structure perched atop the leaning pylon—a circular observatory that houses a panoramic viewpoint and a restaurant known as “UFO.” Visitors reach the platform by elevator; the viewpoint offers sweeping 360° vistas over the Danube, Bratislava Castle, and the Old Town, making it a unique photo spot. Unique visitor notes: the UFO contains a paid observation deck/restaurant and operates specific opening hours; pedestrians and cyclists use dedicated lanes separated from vehicular traffic. The bridge is both a commuter artery and an architectural icon of Bratislava.
