📍 Norway
Brekkefossen is a waterfall on the mountainside above Flåm, the village at the inner end of the Aurlandsfjord in western Norway. The cascade drops over exposed rock beside a hillside viewpoint overlooking the valley, village and fjord. Its white water contrasts with the dark cliff face and surrounding greenery, while the wider panorama shows fields, scattered farm buildings and the waterfront enclosed by steep mountain slopes. This elevated perspective makes the glacially shaped landscape especially clear: a narrow strip of settled land between mountain and water. Reaching the viewpoint requires a steep uphill walk, including stone steps, rather than a roadside stop.
