📍 From Trail, Germany
Breitachklamm is a deep gorge located in Oberstdorf, Germany. At its widest, it is about 5 meters across and reaches depths of 400 meters with walls of slate cliffs more than 150 meters high. The dramatic canyon was created by the Breitach river along the course of the last Ice Age and has been a protected nature reserve since 1921. It is one of the main attractions in the Allgau region of Germany and is the largest and deepest canyon in Central Europe. There are many trails in the canyon, allowing visitors to explore the unique landscape and witness waterfalls, bridges, stunning rock formations, and the powerful natural beauty of this region. Advised facilities include guided tours with a professional guide or audio tours for visitors to follow at their own speed. There is also a free car park available with easy access to the trails. Make sure to wear suitable footwear and warm clothing as the temperature in the canyon varies. Apart from this, don’t forget to bring your camera to capture its stunning views.
