📍 Poland
Brama Mostowa, or the Bridge Gate, is a 15th-century gateway in Toruń’s medieval city walls, at the riverward end of Mostowa Street beside the Vistula. It linked the merchant town with its waterfront, while its name recalls the bridge that once crossed the river here. The substantial Gothic structure reflects Toruń’s role as a fortified trading center, with a broad façade rather than a slender tower. Pointed-arch recesses and the contrast between exposed brick and pale plaster give the elevation its distinctive rhythm. Seen from the riverside, the arched passage frames a view into the Old Town, bringing the defensive architecture and the street beyond into a single composition.
