The Bodie Island Lighthouse stands today as a testament to the past, as a beacon of hope in a town full of charm and beauty. The black-and-white striped tower that the lighthouse is built with can be seen for miles when standing on the nearby beach. Situated in Nags Head, North Carolina, this lighthouse was completed in 1872. This iconic structure stands at 153 feet tall and has 205 steps to reach the top!

The main building and keeper's quarters are now a museum, where you can explore and learn more about the history of lighthouses in the Outer Banks. During your visit you can take a tour of the restored buildings, snap photos of the iconic tower, and even catch a glimpse of the wild horses that roam the beaches near the facility. Whether you’re looking for an educational experience or a great photo op, Bodie Island Lighthouse is a must-see in the Outer Banks!
