Bockwindmühle
📍 Germany
Bockwindmühle is a very old traditional windmill located in Detmold, Germany. The windmill was built in the 16th century and is the only preserved windmill of its kind in Germany. It has a large wooden frame and a tarred double cone-shaped roof in the style of traditional northern German carpentry that is found throughout the region. The windmill’s four sails are painted white in a traditional Perrudschecken pattern. These sails have also been preserved since their construction. Visitors are allowed to climb up to the viewing tower of the windmill where they can view a magnificent 360 degree view of the surrounding countryside. Tours of the windmill, demonstrations of the grinding process, and events are also offered throughout the year. This is a must-see for any traveler interested in the region’s history, culture, and picturesque views.
