Boccadasse
📍 Italy
Boccadasse is a historic fishing quarter on Genoa’s eastern seafront, at the end of the Corso Italia promenade. Its small pebble bay is enclosed by closely packed pastel houses, preserving the scale and layout of a coastal village within the larger city. Narrow lanes and stairways thread between ochre, pink, and terracotta façades before opening onto the waterfront, where fishing boats drawn onto the shore recall the neighborhood’s maritime roots. The church of Sant’Antonio di Padova stands above the cove, adding a distinct landmark to the roofline. From beach level, the curved arrangement of houses creates the recognizable view; from the raised paths beside the church, the bay’s compact shape becomes clearer. Rough shoreline rocks, weathered walls, and the blue-green Ligurian Sea give the scene its contrasting textures and colors.
