📍 From Lagoon, Iceland
The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa located in the small fishing village of Grindavík, on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Southwest Iceland. Its mesmerizing milky blue waters are heated by the nearby geothermal power plant — and the source of the power plant is the magma chamber of a dormant volcano!
It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The lagoon’s water temperature hovers around 100°F (37°C) and the high mineral content is believed to have healing properties. Whether you take a dip in the waters or just relax by the shore, the Blue Lagoon cannot fail to impress. Apart from swimming, visitors can also enjoy treatments at the Blue Lagoon Spa, sip a cool drink at the Lagoon’s swim-up bar or shop for skincare products made with the iconic lagoon’s waters. There are also several well-maintained footpaths winding around the site and leading up the hill near the lagoon — these provide beautiful views and great locations to take pictures! A visit to the Blue Lagoon is an unforgettable experience!
