The Blue Boat House, officially known as the Crawley Edge Boatshed, stands at the end of a short timber jetty on the Swan River in Crawley, between central Perth and the University of Western Australia. Built in the 1930s, the simple weatherboard structure has become a recognizable city landmark through its vivid blue walls, red-tiled roof and isolated position over the water. Its strongest compositions use the jetty’s symmetry as a leading line, while calm conditions create soft reflections and emphasize the boatshed’s small scale against the broad river. The building is private and remains closed, so photographs are taken from the jetty outside.
