📍 From Castle Rock Viewpoint, United States
Bixby Creek Bridge is one of the most iconic sights along the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1). Located just south of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey County, California, the graceful structure spans over 715 feet of Bixby Creek Canyon. The bridge was constructed in 1932 as a major engineering feat of the Great Depression era. Its distinctive art deco concrete arches stand in stark contrast to the rugged landscape of rocky cliffs and crashing waves below. It's an ideal spot for a scenic drive, ready-made picnic spot and a great place to take in the stunning views. The bridge's position also makes it a great spot for whale watching from October to May, where you may just be lucky enough to spot migrating gray whales.
