Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is an open museum of ancient Newari architecture and ambiance. The Nyatapola Temple, towering at five stories, provides a perfect vantage point for panoramic shots of the square. Golden Gate, the entrance to the 55-Window Palace, is a masterpiece of intricate craftsmanship. Visit around sunrise or sunset to capture the square in the best light, and weekday mornings to avoid crowds. The vibrant pottery square nearby offers dynamic shots of traditional pottery-making. Note that carrying a wide-angle lens will help in capturing the grandeur of the temples and buildings in the somewhat narrow lanes.
