📍 From Tower control, Germany
Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) served as the German capital’s main international airport until its closure in 2020. Located in the northwestern district of Reinickendorf, it featured a distinctive hexagonal main terminal that allowed passengers to walk short distances from curb to gate. During its operational years, Tegel was known for its efficient layout, quick transfers, and historical significance as the link between West Berlin and the rest of the world. Although it no longer handles commercial flights, the airport’s legacy endures, and some of its structures can still be admired from outside. Public transport connections remain accessible, making it easy to explore the surrounding areas near the former campus and gain insight into Berlin’s aviation past.
