📍 From Drone, Switzerland
Belvédère Rhonegletscher is a glacier viewpoint beside the Furka Pass road above Gletsch, in the Obergoms region of Valais. The Rhône Glacier feeds the river that flows through Valais, Lake Geneva and southern France before reaching the Mediterranean. Its retreat has exposed glacier-polished bedrock and a lake at the ice front, making the changing Alpine landscape a central part of the view. Nearby, the historic Hotel Belvédère stands inside a tight hairpin bend, its pale façade and red shutters contrasting with the stark mountain slopes. Photographs here can connect three distinctive elements: the winding pass road, the isolated hotel and the glacier landscape that originally drew visitors to this high-altitude stop.
