The Dominican Basilica of the Holy Trinity stands in Kraków’s Old Town, a short walk from the Main Market Square along Stolarska Street. The Dominicans established their Kraków house in the 13th century, and the church developed into an important Gothic brick complex. Much of it was damaged in the great city fire of 1850 and subsequently rebuilt, giving the basilica a layered medieval and 19th-century character. Its long, vaulted interior is lined with chapels, funerary monuments and works connected with prominent Kraków families; the Chapel of St Hyacinth honors the Polish Dominican traditionally associated with the foundation. Outside, the pointed portal, brick façade and tracery create strong vertical patterns, while inside the central aisle offers a striking symmetrical view toward the high altar, framed by shadowed chapels and filtered stained-glass light.
