Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens

The Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens is a museum that houses one of the most comprehensive collections of American decorative arts in the world. Situated on 14 acres of landscaped gardens, the many ornate historic structures and period rooms feature works by some of America’s most renowned artists and artisans including furniture made by 18th-century masters such as Thomas Affleck and John Townsend, samplers and needlework, pieced-and-appliqué quilts, early American portraits, and a variety of silver and ceramics. Ranging in time from 1620-1876, they provide a rich and unique insight into American culture. The grounds feature 14 pristine gardens, including a Courtyard Garden, White Garden and Herb Garden that produce fruits and vegetables used in the plants’ onsite cafe.
