Baszta Senatorska
📍 Poland
Baszta Senatorska, also known as the Lubranka Tower, is a red-brick defensive tower on the southeastern edge of Wawel Hill in Kraków. Built in the 15th century as part of the royal castle’s fortifications, it also served as a prison for people of high social rank. Its massive walls and narrow openings reveal the military character of a complex better known for its royal apartments and Renaissance courtyard. Viewed from below the hill, the tower rises above the adjoining defensive walls, its brickwork contrasting with the paler masonry and emphasizing the scale of Wawel’s fortified enclosure.
