Bastion Saint Jaume
📍 France
Bastion Saint Jaume is a fortification on the old city wall of Antibes, France. Its construction began in 1557, during the reign of King Henri II of France, and was completed some 50 years later. The bastion is a remnant of the massive city walls that once protected Antibes. It offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, the Alps and the old town of Antibes. The bastion was also the site where the painter Jean-Aimé Hauzons painted “La Galiote à Antibes”, one of his most famous works. It is also a World Heritage Site. The Bastion is surrounded by lush, green parkland and is a great spot for a leisurely walk or to take in the magnificent views of the area. There are also a few cafes and restaurants in the vicinity of the fortification, making it an ideal place to visit on a sunny day. Visiting the site is free of charge.
