Bassano del Grappa is a town in the Veneto region of Northern Italy and is known for its historical bridge spanning the Brenta River, the wooden Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). The bridge, often referred to as the Ponte degli Alpini, was constructed in 1569 and is now considered one of the most significant monuments in the area. It is made entirely of wood and is characterized by its four swivel-arches, 43.37 m in length. Its construction is attributed to the architect Andrea Palladio. Today, the bridge is the home of a museum and the scenic landscape located around lends itself to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Visitors can also take a stroll around the pedestrian streets of the old city, full of interesting shops, restaurants and historical monuments, while admiring the mountains in the background. The area is perfect for travelers and photographers alike, due to its beautiful landscapes and the numerous monuments and attractions.
