The Basilica of Santa Francesca Romana is located on the Forum Romanum in the heart of Rome, on Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Italy. It is dedicated to Saint Francesca Romana, patron saint of Rome and protectress of Rome from plagues. The Basilica comprises three separate churches and some remarkable works of art. The exterior has a portico with wooden doors with 18th century stucco decorations. Its admirable interior, with its golden altars, frescoes and artwork, is decorated with a few pieces of 17th century work. On the ceiling of the choir, Giovanni Canavesi painted some frescoes, as well as on the walls of the side transept. The Chapel of Jesus contains fine stucco decoration and a precious Concertato organ of a Cavaillé-Coll family. Other highlights include the very rare antique marble staircase, which leads to the sanctuary, the sacristy, and the 15th century Sacra Pallacarda, a relic preserved off-site.
