The Basilica di Santa Chiars is one of the most important churches in Assisi, Italy. It was built over a period of several centuries, beginning in 1230. The design of the Basilica is inspired by the Gothic and Romanesque styles of the 13th century. Inside the basilica, visitors will find two chapels, decorated with frescoes of the Crucifixion and the iconic Umbrian mural paintings. These frescoes were completed by several local artists in the 16th century. Additionally, there are many beautiful works of art and sculptures, such as a 14th-century relief of St. Francis. Visitors can also find the tomb of Pope Gregory IX, who crowned St. Francis a saint. This significant building is a must-see for anyone visiting Assisi.
