📍 From Fondamenta Sant'Eufemia, Italy
The Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore stands on its namesake island across the Bacino di San Marco from St Mark’s Square. Designed by Andrea Palladio, its white Renaissance façade layers classical temple forms, while its dome and bell tower give the island a distinct outline on the Venetian skyline. Inside, Tintoretto’s *Last Supper* links the church to the city’s painting tradition. Seen from the waterfront near St Mark’s, the basilica rises beyond a foreground of lagoon water and passing boats.
