The Basilica dei Santi Filippo e Giacomo is Cortina d’Ampezzo’s principal parish church, standing beside Corso Italia at the heart of the resort town. Rebuilt in the 18th century, it combines a restrained pale façade with an ornate Baroque interior, where frescoes, carved wood and gilded altars reflect the craftsmanship of the historic Ampezzo valley. Its exceptionally slender bell tower is one of Cortina’s defining landmarks, rising above the pedestrian center and forming a striking vertical counterpoint to the jagged Dolomite peaks. From Corso Italia, the church, tower and surrounding mountain walls create the most recognizable architectural view of Cortina.
