Basílica de Sant Feliu (San Félix) sits in Girona’s Old Town, just below the famous cathedral, and was the city’s principal church before the current cathedral took that role. Its long, austere nave and the juxtaposition of Romanesque and Gothic elements give the building a layered, weathered look: buttressed exterior walls, a tall bell tower and stone surfaces that record centuries of repairs. The church’s outer walls incorporate medieval funerary slabs and sarcophagi that add texture and human scale, while narrow surrounding streets and the adjacent plaza provide clear viewpoints to frame the tower against Girona’s cathedral skyline. Visitors should respect its status as an active place of worship.
