Constructed between 1219 and 1265, this stunning gothic cathedral is the final resting place of Catherine of Siena, the patron saint of Italy. Its interior contains the tombs of some of the city's most prominent figures and artwork by prized Sienese painters. Its most recognizable feature is a striking rose window, often photographed across its enormous plaza. In addition to the basilica, the plaza also contains the statue of Siena's patron saint, an altar and a fountain. Containing its own charm, this majestic basilica and plaza should not be missed.
