📍 From Courtyard, Germany
Barockschloss Mannheim stands at the southwestern edge of Mannheim’s grid-planned center, close to the Rhine. Built in the 18th century as a residence for the Electors Palatine, the palace connects the city’s formal street plan with its courtly past. It was badly damaged during the Second World War and later reconstructed; today, much of it houses the University of Mannheim. From the broad courtyard, its long wings, repeated windows and central pavilion create a striking sense of symmetry and scale.
