📍 From China Club, Hong Kong
The Bank of China Tower is a landmark office skyscraper on Garden Road in Central, close to Hong Kong Park and the Peak Tram’s lower terminus. Designed by I. M. Pei and completed in 1990, it is distinguished by interlocking triangular forms and bold diagonal lines across its glass façade. Its tapering composition evokes growing bamboo, connecting its modern geometry with a Chinese symbol of strength and vitality. From across Victoria Harbour, the angular crown and triangular framework make it recognizable within Hong Kong Island’s dense skyline; from the surrounding streets, upward views emphasize how its broad base divides into increasingly slender sections.
