Back Bay and Whitianga Rock are two stunningly beautiful spots located on the beach near the Ferry Landing in New Zealand. Back Bay is a horseshoe-shaped bay made of volcanic rock, surrounded by cliffs and outcrops. It is a great spot to explore tidepools and the beaches which are known for their orange-hued stones. The views over the bay are amazing, especially at sunset. Whitianga Rock is a large basaltic rock formation located about 200m northwest of the bay. It has some limestone overhangs and bulging cliffs, which provide plenty of interesting subject matter to photograph. It's also a great spot for fishing and birdwatching. Accessing this coastal area is on foot only, so you will need to be prepared for a short walk on rough terrain, but the rewards are definitely worth it!
