📍 Germany
Bach Church (St. George's Church) is a Lutheran church in the city of Arnstadt, Germany. It is notable as the site of Johann Sebastian Bach's earliest known public performance in 1703. The building was constructed between 1695 and 1699, and since 1990 has been part of the Arnstadt Bach Museum. The church is a symbol of the Lutheran faith and its long-standing importance in the region. The brick building is decorated with sculptures of lions and garlands in the Baroque style. Inside the church it's possible to admire magnificent altarpieces painted by Georg Roeber, plenty of memorial plaques and epitaphs, as well as two organs constructed by Mindermann and run by electric current. It's also the place where the original Manuscript of “Passion According to St. Matthew” is held, one of the most famous works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
