Avalanche Creek
📍 United States
Avalanche Creek is a mountain stream on the western side of Glacier National Park in Montana, draining Avalanche Lake into McDonald Creek. Its distinctive gorge lies beside the Trail of the Cedars, where rushing water passes between smooth, sculpted rock walls beneath western redcedars and hemlocks. The dense forest reflects the wetter conditions on this side of the Continental Divide, contrasting with the park’s exposed alpine landscapes. From the trail’s bridge, the narrow channel brings the scene into close focus: white foam, clear pools, shaded stone and moss along the water’s edge.
